21 Sep 2021 Created: 11:52 PM Last Updated: 11:52 PM Views: 70 New York, Sep.21 (BNA): The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, met today at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, Dr. Riyadh Al-Maliki, on the sidelines of the 76th United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the strong brotherly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the State of Palestine, which are based on solid foundations of mutual respect.
The Minister also expressed his pride on the development that the relations have reached in light of the two country’s keenness to advance cooperation in order to meet common aspirations.
He also reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s supportive and firm position on the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and on the basis of the two-state solution and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
For his part, the Palestinian Minister commended the Kingdom of Bahrain’s supportive stances for the Palestinian cause, praising the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, for the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.
He expressed his appreciation for the close bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and their keenness to develop bilateral cooperation to serve their common interests, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued progress and prosperity.
The meeting also discussed political situation developments in the region, the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, in addition to a number of issues of common interest.
The Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie and the Minister’s accompanying delegation attended the meeting.
